THE PROGRAMME SK-CLIMATE ALSO COMMEMORATES THE WOLRD WETLANDS DAY
Thanks to the support of Norwegian grants and the state budget of the Slovak Republic from the SK-Climate Programme, in the total amount of EUR 4 800 000,- We can look forward to an interesting projects, which will restore 21 various types of wetlands in different parts of Slovakia.

Thanks to the activities of restoration and protection of wetlands in Slovakia within the SK-Climate Programme, reciprocal benefits will be achieved. Restored wetlands will be more resilient to climate change, help mitigate its negative impacts on the surrounding environment and provide better ecosystem services, which will also be reflected in the improved quality of life of the population.

Can we determine how much carbon our wetlands can capture?
Can we use the territory efficiently while protecting rare wetland ecosystems?
We will learn all this and more, especially thanks to the great cooperation of various actors from the field of science and research, the public, non-profit and private sector and the local population.
We will gain knowledge, but we will also pass it on.
International cooperation with Norwegian partners and the use of their know-how directly in practice are an invaluable benefit for our wetlands. Within specific projects, we will share with professional institutions from Norway not only knowledge and experience, but also their use in practice. We communicate the contribution of wetland restoration and protection to climate change mitigation and adaptation to local people and visitors. The knowledge gained together, will benefit to all.
