Matchmaking event for primary and secondary schools
Another matchmaking event of the Programme SK-Climate was held on 20th November 2019. The second matchmaking event was organized in Stiavnicke Bane in Slovakia and was aimed on primary and secondary schools from Slovakia and Norway. The event was organized by the Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic as the Operator of the Programme „Climate change mitigation and adaptation“ (abbreviated name “Programme SK-Climate“) in close cooperation with the donor programme partners, the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE), the Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (DSB) and the Norwegian Environment Agency (NEA).
The main goal of the event was to introduce to the primary and secondary schools possibilities for cooperation and implementation of joint projects within the planned small grant scheme financed from the Norwegian financial mechanism and supporting projects on awareness raising activities on climate change mitigation and adaptation (Outcome 1: Increased climate change resilience and responsiveness within targeted areas; Output 1.2: Awareness raising activities on climate change mitigation and adaptation carried out by schools).
The event was attended by approximately fifty primary and secondary schools from Slovakia and four secondary schools from Norway. Norwegian schools and one fifth of the participating schools from Slovakia took the opportunity and presented the current as well as the planned awareness raising activities on mitigation and adaptation to climate change. At the end of the day, the participants jointly visited Maximilian Hell's primary school and were acquainted with its successful project of green teaching at the blue school.
The organizers again appreciated a high interest and professional contributions from the participating schools and believe that the event contributed to laying down the foundations for their future bilateral cooperation.
