Bilateral initiative: Development of project partnership within the Pre-defined project
The pre-defined project "Climate Change and Environmental Education Centre (Living Lab) in Dropie" (hereinafter referred to as the "PDP") is an integral part of the SK-Climate Programme, as outlined in Section 5.1 of Annex II to the Programme Agreement for the Financing of the Programme "Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation (SK-Climate)." To facilitate the incorporation of partners from the Donor States, primarily the Norwegian Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research and the Municipality of Trondheim, and to strengthen bilateral relations during the PDP drafting phase, two study trips were planned:
- Study trip of Norwegian partners to Slovakia – A visit to the Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic and the project area, where the PDP is being implemented, took place on November 20, 2019. The working meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Norway of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Terje Theodor Nervik; project partners from Norway, including representatives of the city of Trondheim, Ms. Ellen-Birgitte Strømø and Ms. Birgitte Gisvold Johannessen; Bjerknes Centre for Climate Change Research, Mr. Øyvind Paasche; Ambassador with a special mission for grants from the EEA Financial Mechanism, the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, and the Swiss Financial Mechanism, Mr. František Kašický; managers and deputies of the SK-Climate Programme Operator; Director General of the Slovak Environment Agency, Mr. Richard Müller; and managers and experts of the Slovak Environmental Agency. During this meeting, further steps for cooperation were discussed, and proposals for the focus and solutions of the Climate change and environment education centre in Dropie, related to the PDP, were agreed upon.
- Study trip of representatives of the Slovak Environmental Agency (Project Promoter) to Norway – This trip, initially planned for the first or second quarter of 2020, was not carried out due to global travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
