Bilateral activity of the SK-Climate Programme for Slovak municipalities in Norway so-called "UrbanClima Study Tour"

The Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic, as a Programme Operator of the “Climate change mitigation and adaptation“ programme, (hereinafter also as “Programme SK-Climate”), financed from two mechanisms – EEA financial mechanism and Norwegian financial mechanism in the program period 2014-2021, informs you as it follows: The Programme Operator in close cooperation with the Donor Programme Partners from the contributing states, (which are the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE), Directorate for Civil Protection (DSB) and the Norwegian Environment Agency (NEA)), organize a bilateral activity for the municipalities called "UrbanClima study tour" for the sustainable development of the bilateral partnership.

The bilateral activity is intended for Slovak municipalities with a population of more than 15,000, except of project promoters with the approved projects within the Calls ACC01 and ACC02.

The main goal is to develop and support sustainable bilateral partnerships, exchange of experience and know-how in the field of mitigation and adaptation to climate change between Slovak municipalities and municipalities from Norway.

Date and venue of the bilateral activity:

Date: September 18-20, 2023, OSLO (3 days)
Accompanying programs and all study trip activities will be conducted in English.

Eligible participants:

The target group of the event are representatives of Slovak municipalities with a population of over 15,000 inhabitants according to the current data of the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic, except for recipients of projects within the ACC01 and ACC02 Calls a total of 2 participants per 1 municipality.

The participants of the event should be city employees, specifically from departments, respectively organizational components, that are directly involved in the creation of action plans and measures connected to mitigation and adaption to climate change, within the municipality territory with relevant knowledge in the related area.

At the event, the participants should present their municipality and its planned as well as implemented measures for mitigation and adaption to climate change on the topic:
"Our city is resistant to climate change" for a duration of approx. 5-10 minutes in English.

Financing:

From the fund for Bilateral Relations, the Program Manager has reserved funds for the participation of max. 20 representatives of Slovak municipalities. In accordance with the “Contract/ Agreement on cooperation and reimbursement of flat-rate compensations..” in accordance the participant´s cost related to their travel and accommodation, will be reimbursed in flat-rate compensation in accordance with the Manual for the Bilateral Fund. 

Registration rules and deadline for registration:

For the purposes of registration, it is necessary to fill out the registration form in English using the predefined form published in this announcement and send it signed and scanned by e-mail to the address .  

Registration is open until July 31, 2023 (23:59 CET). 

Each municipality can submit only one registration form. When sending the registration form, it is necessary to state UrbanClima Study tour write: Name of the municipalities in the subject of the e-mail. 

Due to the fact that the number of places is limited, the Programme Operator reserves the right to select applicants based on the information provided in the registration form, taking into account the order in which the registration forms were delivered to the so called "FIFO system" - first in first out. Furthermore, the Programme Operator reserves the right to extend the registration deadline in case of insufficient number of registered participants.

Those interested will be informed about the selection results by e-mail at the latest until August 31, 2023.
